In episode 4 of The Millionaire Real Estate Agent Podcast, we had the pleasure of diving into the extraordinary life and journey of a remarkable entrepreneur and mother of four boys, Kymber Lovett-Menkiti. From a background in social work to owning 11 successful businesses, her story is a testament to the power of determination, vision, and the transformative role of real estate in people’s lives.
Through her background in social work, Kymber realized that housing wasn’t just a basic need; it was the cornerstone upon which individuals could rebuild their lives. This pivotal realization propelled her into the world of real estate joining her husband, Bo. Throughout her career in real estate, Kymber has remained focused on two driving goals.
- Create a Hyperlocal Impact
One of Kymber’s defining principles was to remain deeply rooted in their community. Her and her husband lived and worked in the same neighborhood, invested in it, and saw firsthand the impact of their work. This approach allowed them to be an integral part of their community’s transformation. - Invest in Real Estate
Understanding the value of ownership and equity, they began investing in real estate deals instead of just transacting properties. This approach was instrumental in their ability to create and grow multiple successful businesses.
“There are times I don’t win the day. But I find you can always win a moment.”
– Kymber Lovett-Menkiti
In order to balance her competing priorities amongst her thriving businesses and her personal life, Kymber has also developed systems to ensure her teams stay on track.
- Prioritize Preparation
Kymber emphasizes planning your year, your month, your week, and even the next day in order to have structured mornings. Her routine includes waking up early to find time for personal activities like exercise, journaling, and planning. Getting some alone time before the rest of the family wakes up allows her to focus and mentally prepare for the day ahead. - Host Morning Huddles
To effectively manage multiple businesses, Kymber holds morning huddles with her teams to help set priorities, align team members, and ensure everyone is on the same page. They provide a touchpoint for geographically dispersed teams and help maintain a clear focus on priorities, progress, and the allocation of tasks. Kymber divides her morning huddles into two sessions, one for each business she oversees. This structured approach ensures she has a strong connection with each team and maintains visibility into their daily activities. The huddles also serve as a springboard for her team leaders to replicate the process within their teams. - Maintain an Element of Spontaneity
While Kymber’s life is highly structured, she has found ways to introduce spontaneity. One key element is the dedicated “thinking time” she schedules on Friday afternoons. This allows her to tackle unscripted activities, meet friends, or engage in creative endeavors.
Ultimately, Kymber’s story underscores the importance of owning your journey, investing wisely, and maintaining a clear distinction between personal lifestyle and business finances. Her ability to create and grow multiple successful businesses while remaining deeply rooted in her community serves as an inspiration for aspiring entrepreneurs.
