Rock on! Ayo Edebiri can typically be seen sporting her signature, glossy bob, but for the 2024 SAG Awards on Feb. 24 in Los Angeles, California, the actress decided to switch her look up with the help of celebrity hairstylist Miles Jeffries.
“Ayo’s long, luscious curls for the SAG Awards echoed a previous style we crafted for the Loewe SS2024 show. … We infused the waves with a sleekness and luster using a combination of the TRESemmé Perfecting Keratin Smooth Leave-In Lotion and the TRESemmé Extra Hold Hair Gel,” he told ET.
Next, the hair expert dried Edebiri’s locks with the GHD Helios Advanced Professional Hair Dryer and created waves with the GHD Thin Curling Wand before adding a subtle braid detail with Bungee Elastic Hair Bands for a touch of rock and roll.
“Tying the ends with a cord was an in-the-moment spark of inspiration. I experimented with various braiding techniques, seeking to infuse a hint of grunge or punk into the overall hair story. … To seal the look, I applied the TRESemmé Weightless Keratin Smooth Anti-Frizz Finishing Spray for a flawless finish,” he noted.
And these eureka moments are far from uncommon when Jeffries and The Bear star work together.
“Collaborating with Ayo is a deeply enriching experience. Our creative process thrives on open dialogue and shared inspiration. … Ayo and I both maintain our individual boards, which serve as starting points for exploration. Typically, we begin by immersing ourselves in Ayo’s vision, allowing it to shape the thematic landscape. From there, I draw inspiration from the garment itself, layering in elements that resonate with me,” he explained.
As for his technique for this specific occasion: “Ayo’s dress served as the focal point around which we meticulously curated her entire look. … Our mood board encapsulated an ethereal fusion of punk and tribal aesthetics. It’s a tapestry woven with natural textures, intricate braid details, and imagery that hints at a compelling duality,” Jeffries said.
