Emma Raducanu opens up on battling stomach bug after Australian Open exit
World No 1 and top seed Iga Swiatek is out of the Australian Open after falling to a 3-6 6-3 6-4 defeat to Czech teenager Linda Noskova in the third round. The four-time grand slam champion looked to be in a comfortable position as she led by a set and pushed for the break, but the 19-year-old Noskova battled back to force the third and edged a tense decider to claim the biggest win of her career and the biggest shock of the tournament so far.
Earlier, British No 1 Cameron Norrie advanced to the fourth round of the Australian Open for the first time after sealing an impressive four-set win against the 11th seed Casper Ruud. Norrie, the 19th seed, had not beaten Ruud in their three previous meetings but executed an attacking gameplan to perfection in clinching a 6-4 6-7 6-4 6-3 victory in just over three hours. Norrie’s win against Ruud, the three-time grand slam finalist, was also his best victory at a major by opponent ranking.
Elsewhere in the men’s singles, Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz spent just 66 minutes out on court as wildcard Juncheng Shang retired while 6-1 6-1 1-0 down against the second seed. Daniil Medvedev enjoyed a straight-sets victory over Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Australian Open LIVE: Iga Swiatek vs Linda Noskova
Swiatek had won 17 matches in a row going back to September and looked the favourite to win her first Australian Open title…
But defeat means Swiatek has now fallen at a grand slam before the quarter-finals for the third tournament in a row
She is guaranteed to hang onto top spot in the rankings, though, with her nearest challenger Aryna Sabalenka unable to gain points having won the tournament last year.
But it does mean there is also set to be an unexpected finalist in the women’s draw.
With Sabalenka and Coco Gauff in the other half of the draw and looking strong, the top half is looking wide open.
Swiatek, Elena Rybakina and Jessica Pegula are all out: two-time champion Victoria Azarenka, Elina Svitolina and Qinwen Zheng have got to be favourites now to get to the final…
… as has Noskova after that performance. She will play Svitolina if she beats Viktorija Golubic – with that match currently ongoing.
