Australian Open LIVE: Iga Swiatek stunned by Linda Noskova after Cameron Norrie beats Casper Ruud

That’s a brilliant win from Elina Svitolina, who continues her excellent comeback with a 6-2 6-3 win over Viktorija Golubic.

Svitolina will play Linda Noskova in the fourth round after the teenager’s stunning win against Iga Swiatek.

Just the result that Daniil Medvedev needed.

After finishing his five-set comeback at 3:30am in the morning, the third seed cruises to staight-forward 6-3 6-4 6-3 over Felix Auger-Aliassime.

That will be important for his recovery as the tournament progresses and he will now play unseeded Nuno Borges after his stunning four-set victory over Grigor Dimitrov.

Teenager Linda Noskova pulled off a huge upset to knock world number one Iga Swiatek out of the Australian Open in the third round.

Swiatek had dug herself out a major hole in the second round against Danielle Collins but she was unable to repeat the trick against Noskova, going down 3-6 6-3 6-4.

The never-ending production line of Czech female talent is one of the wonders of tennis, and 19-year-old Noskova is at the head of a new generation.

Swiatek had won 17 matches in a row going back to September and looked the favourite to win her first Australian Open title…

But defeat means Swiatek has now fallen at a grand slam before the quarter-finals for the third tournament in a row

She is guaranteed to hang onto top spot in the rankings, though, with her nearest challenger Aryna Sabalenka unable to gain points having won the tournament last year.

But it does mean there is also set to be an unexpected finalist in the women’s draw.

With Sabalenka and Coco Gauff in the other half of the draw and looking strong, the top half is looking wide open.

Swiatek, Elena Rybakina and Jessica Pegula are all out: two-time champion Victoria Azarenka, Elina Svitolina and Qinwen Zheng have got to be favourites now to get to the final…

… as has Noskova after that performance. She will play Svitolina if she beats Viktorija Golubic – with that match currently ongoing.

Noskova: “I’m speechless! I knew it was going to be an amazing match against Iga but I did not think it would end up like this. I was shaking, I couldn’t get a first serve [in the final game] but I pulled out an ace… I’m just really glad we can have this win for all of us [her team].”
