Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) said earlier this week it is expanding its self service repair program to include the iPhone 14 line of smartphones and certain Macs, including the 13-inch MacBook Air and MacBook Pro powered by the company’s M2 line of processors.
In addition, the tech giant said it would update its System Configuration process for iPhone repairs to make it even easier, allowing consumers to replace displays, batteries and cameras.
“Running System Configuration after a repair authenticates genuine Apple parts, updates firmware, and calibrates parts to ensure maximum performance and quality,” the company said in a statement. “Additionally, for repairs involving biometric authentication, such as Touch ID or Face ID, System Configuration links the biometric sensors to the Secure Enclave on the logic board to ensure device security and customer privacy.”
The expansion for self service repair is now available for the products and is available for customers in the U.S. and several countries in Europe, including France, Italy, the U.K. and Germany, among others.
Apple brought self service repair for certain products to Europe late last year after having unveiled it in the U.S. in November 2021.
