Kudos to the author of the April 30 letter “Heed pope’s phrases on cruelty.” I consider Pope Francis was the primary and solely pope to contemplate animals and converse on their behalf.
His phrases had been lengthy overdue, and I’m afraid the Catholic Church is not going to be advocating for his or her welfare and safety once more. Animals have by no means been a consideration for that church.
Having grown up Catholic, the emphasis was at all times on everlasting damnation for lacking mass on Sunday and different absurdities, which is why I and throngs of others walked away from it a very long time in the past.
