Angus Cloud in Lottery Ticket Mayhem Film ‘Your Lucky Day’ Trailer

“This could be our chance at a better life…” Well Go USA has revealed an official trailer for an indie thriller titled Your Lucky Day, marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Dan Brown (not the author). This just premiered at Fantastic Fest a few weeks ago, and it’s opening in November. After a dispute over a winning lottery ticket turns into a deadly hostage situation, the witnesses must decide exactly how far they’ll go—and how much blood they’re willing to spill—for a cut of the $156 million prize. Greed and desperation rules America. FF describes it as “pressure cooker of a morality tale. Effortlessly charismatic, with a canny ability to telegraph the contradictory emotions & restless impulses of marginalized characters, Your Lucky Day marks one of the final performances of the unique young talent whose life was tragically cut short in July of this year.” The film stars Angus Cloud (who passed away in July), Elliot Knight, Jessica Garza, Sterling Beaumon, Mousa Hussein Kraish, Spencer Garrett, and Jason O’Mara. I dig the grainy, neon-lit look & feel of this. It seems to be a brutally harsh commentary on America’s obsession with money.

Via Fantastic Fest: “It’s Christmas Eve at the Sip N Go corner store, and the world’s smarmiest man has just hit the 156 million-dollar jackpot. As he loudly proclaims his windfall, Sterling, a low-level street thug, draws his gun and demands the ticket. When a beat cop emerges from the back restroom, the young rookie forces a standoff, accidentally killing the winning man in the crossfire and is mortally wounded himself in the melee. Golden ticket in hand, Sterling’s prayers have seemingly been answered, but as store owner Amir points out, it’s not that easy. With the ticket encoded to the store and two dead bodies, one of which belongs to a cop, a thorough investigation is inevitable, and all of that money will disappear.” Your Lucky Day is both written and directed by American filmmaker Daniel Brown (aka Dan Brown), now making his feature directorial debut after a few other shorts previously. Produced by Luke Barnett and Adam Baxter. This recently premiered at Fantastic Fest 2023 in Austin. Well Go USA will debut Your Lucky Day in select US theaters on November 10th, 2023, then on VOD starting November 14th this fall. Want to watch?
