Football FanCast updates you with all the latest Newcastle United transfer news and gossip ahead of the fast-approaching transfer window deadline on 1st September.
Having already signed the likes of Sandro Tonali and Harvey Barnes, amongst others, Eddie Howe is still intent on further strengthening his squad.
In the latest transfer round-up, two fresh links have emerged…
Friday 18th August
Hall deal close
The Guardian: Newcastle United have agreed an initial £28m fee with Chelsea to sign left-back Lewis Hall, who is set to join on loan.
The 18-year-old is set to depart for the north-east weeks after being offered a new six-year contract, with the option of a further year.
Hall was due to join Crystal Palace on loan to continue his development but the landscape has dramatically changed over the last few days and he is now on the verge of completing a permanent transfer away from the Blues.
Dan Ashworth, Newcastle’s sporting director, is keen to add young talent to the squad as the Magpies’ current academy isn’t sufficient enough to support the first team.
Later reports from The Athletic claimed that the deal will indeed be a loan with a £28m obligation to buy, which could rise to £35m in add-ons.
Newcastle keen on Lindstrøm
Ekstra Bladet (via Chronicle Live): Newcastle are keen on signing Eintracht Frankfurt attacking midfielder Jesper Lindstrøm.
The 23-year-old is also attracting interest from Serie A giants Juventus, while RB Leipzig saw their bid of €25m (£21.4m) knocked back by the 2022 Europa League winners.
Lindstrøm netted nine times last term whilst providing four assists in 38 outings for the German side, who are thought to be open to selling the nine-cap Denmark international.
Frankfurt have a €34-35m (£28.9-29.8m) valuation of the player, though that price is expected to rocket towards the end of the window given they’ll have little time to find a replacement.
Juve consider him as a priority target, but any forthcoming move is subject to offloading a player, which could give the Tynesiders a lead in the race to land the Danish midfielder.
However, Newcastle may need to sell themselves before they can submit a proposal, as they continue to be wary of Financial Fair Play regulations.

Toon in Cucurella talks
Felix Johnston: Newcastle United are in talks with Chelsea over a loan deal for left-back Marc Cucurella.
The Athletic reported in March that Eddie Howe was keen to add an offensive-minded left-back to his ranks this summer, and it appears Cucurella fits the profile he is after.
Chelsea signed the Spaniard last summer in a deal worth in excess of £60m after he won Brighton’s Player of the Year award. However, his debut season at Stamford Bridge wasn’t particularly inspiring and he could now depart a year after joining.
The west Londoners want an obligation to buy inserted in any loan move.
Tierney of interest
The Telegraph: Newcastle United are interested in signing Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney.
The move is likely to be a loan deal, as the club continue to be wary of Financial Fair Play regulations. The Tynesiders are trying to bring in a left-back before the window shuts in less than three weeks’ time.
The club won’t sign both Tierney and Cucurella, so it will be one or the other. Arsenal want to do a permanent deal for the Scotland international, who they signed from Celtic four years ago for a reported fee worth £25m.
The 26-year-old was limited to just six league starts last term, with Oleksandr Zinchenko often the preferred option in his position.
La Liga outfit Real Sociedad are also keen on signing the defender on loan, but Arsenal are adamant in their stance of only sanctioning a permanent deal.
Negotiations are expected to continue this week between the two clubs, but the race remains open to others.
