On the evening of December 24th, Summit’s streets will once again glow with luminaries. The Summit Luminary Fund began over 40 years ago on a handful of streets and has grown into an all-encompassing community effort. This past year it raised over $120,000 for local charities.
Since the inception of the Summit Luminary Fund, Lois Schneider Realtor has been the underwriter of this magical event. Last year, 173 streets were lined with luminaries, filling Summit with a gorgeous glow. Special thanks are extended to Luminary Fund President, Barbara Romano, this year’s area leaders, Meg Ahern, Francie Cho, Pam Kuhn, Linda Massengill, and John Blomfield, and the many volunteers who fill thousands of bags with sand and candles.
The funds raised by selling the luminaries brighten the lives of many in need throughout the year. This year’s recipients are: Bridges’ Project Connect Summit Program, Christ Child Society-ABC Area Baby Center: Diaper Distribution, Layette Program, School Supply & Back Pack Program, Family Promise of Union County, SAGE Eldercare Spend-A-Day, SHIP Summit Helping Its People, Summit’s Senior Connections, G.R.A.C.E., Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad, and The Valerie Fund Children’s Center At Overlook Hospital.
“We are thrilled to see the tradition continue this December and are proud to work with the Summit Luminary Fund and the non-profit beneficiaries that help so many in our area. At Lois Schneider Realtor we are committed to supporting their work.” stated Karen Schneider, President of Lois Schneider Realtor.
Order forms will be delivered to homes in the near future.
