Turkey says a deal has been reached with Russia to permit Ukraine to renew exports of grain by the Black Sea.
It’s to be signed on Friday in Istanbul by Ukraine, Russia, Turkey and UN Secretary Basic Antonio Guterres.
The world scarcity of Ukrainian grain since Russia’s 24 February invasion has left tens of millions prone to starvation.
The invasion despatched meals costs hovering, so the deal to unblock Ukraine’s ports is essential. Some 20 million tonnes of grain is caught in silos in Odesa.
Ukraine’s international ministry confirmed that one other UN-led spherical of talks to unblock grain exports would happen in Turkey on Friday – and a doc “could also be signed”.
