Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the rose 1.19% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the were DeNA Co Ltd (TYO:), which rose 9.13% or 126.50 points to trade at 1,511.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Omron Cor (TYO:) added 6.22% or 391.00 points to end at 6,677.00 and Advantest Corp. (TYO:) was up 6.05% or 282.00 points to 4,945.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO:), which fell 3.72% or 246.00 points to trade at 6,361.00 at the close. DIC Corp (TYO:) declined 2.64% or 72.00 points to end at 2,652.50 and Kyocera Corp. (TYO:) was down 2.19% or 45.00 points to 2,010.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2850 to 877 and 175 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 1.23% to 18.46.
Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.31% or 0.22 to $70.55 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.13% or 0.10 to hit $76.02 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.25% or 5.10 to trade at $2,038.60 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.19% to 143.94, while EUR/JPY fell 0.21% to 157.62.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 102.00.
