EXCLUSIVE: UTA has signed Ceci Chan‘s media company, ACE91, for representation in all areas worldwide, Deadline can exclusively reveal. While overseeing the company’s entertainment- and film-related endeavors, the agency will look to secure business deals for it across verticals like gaming, and elsewhere in the technology sector.
One of the first projects from the company, created to inspire global audiences and ignite positive change — which is active across film, TV and books, among other areas — is 2020 Chaos and Hope, a feature doc produced by Chan that explores a year unlike any other. On the heels of a limited theatrical release through Abramorama last year and more recent wins on the festival circuit, the film has been set to make its streaming premiere on Peacock this fall.
Currently in development at ACE91 is a feature doc based on the international bestseller The Silk Roads, a revelatory look at the history of the Silk Roads and the inextricable link between East and West. Written by Oxford professor and historian Peter Frankopan, the work of non-fiction named one of The Sunday Times’ Books of the Decade for 2010-19 has been translated into multiple languages and read by millions around the world.
ACE91 is also in the process of developing an English-language adaptation of the Chinese comedy film sensation, Hi, Mom, and has further plans to collaborate with famed jazz musician Wynton Marsalis on projects for film and theater.
A significant investor in the company Dalpha Tech, focused on using smart-living technologies to reduce environmental impact and increase disposable income, Chan is also a Partner and Managing Director for Greater China at Dasym, an independent, research-driven investment company with a strong presence in telecoms, media, and technology. A passionate supporter of prison reform, as well as civil and voting rights, she’s additionally a member of the Leadership Council at Facing History and Ourselves, Vice Chair on the Dean’s Council of Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, and a member of the Executive Committee of USC Shoah Foundation, where she has spearheaded the Nanjing Project.
