20 Years Later, Assessing the Worth of the ODNI

EXPERT INTERVIEWS — The Workplace of the Director of Nationwide Intelligence (ODNI) marks an anniversary at the moment — 20 years since its creation as the highest oversight entity throughout the U.S. intelligence group (IC).

The ODNI was born within the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terror assaults and the flawed intelligence that led to 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq, and given a mandate to right “single-threaded intelligence reporting and evaluation” and higher combine intelligence collected by the remainder of the IC. It was tasked with different roles: a convening authority to deliver the IC’s disparate companies collectively to confront challenges; the preparation of the Presidential Every day Temporary; the figuring out of the general intelligence finances; and appearing as a public voice for the IC writ giant.
