Nunhead Green | £795,000 ($1.01 million)

A semi-attached, renovated two-bedroom, one-bath Victorian cottage with a contemporary interior and front and rear gardens.

This updated house, with a traditional Victorian exterior and contemporary interior, is on a quiet street in Southeast London’s Nunhead Green Conservation Area, close to a small village area with a new community center, fish store, greengrocer, deli and pubs. The London skyline is visible from the parklike Nunhead Cemetery. Neighboring Peckham Rye has an expansive park and common area with a Japanese garden, sports facilities, cafes, bars, restaurants and shops.

From the Peckham Rye station, rail service takes ten minutes to London Bridge and 15 minutes to Victoria.

Size: 792 square feet

Price per square foot: $1,270

Indoors: Off the front hall, built-in bookshelves in the living room bracket a fireplace, new sash windows are shuttered, and the floorboards are dark-stained wood.

The kitchen is open to a skylit dining extension with floor-to-ceiling windows. Along one wall, custom-fronted cabinets — white with brass handles on the bottom — are topped with a white Silestone quartz counter and surround a gas stove. A built-in white sink with a high arc brass faucet and the refrigerator are at the far end. The backsplash is Moroccan tile. A light blue center island conceals storage and functions as a breakfast bar with two bar stools. Custom wood bookshelves, cupboards, and built-in seating extend across the opposite wall. The engineered oak floor is heated.

Wool carpeting covers the staircase and second floor. The primary bedroom, in front, and second bedroom, in back, both have built-in wardrobes and doors with transom windows. Down two steps, a shared bathroom has blue hexagon-shaped floor tiles, a combined tub and shower, a pedestal sink, white subway wall tiles and a sloped ceiling with a skylight.

Outdoor space: Glass doors open from the dining area to a brick patio with a built-in bench. In the fenced rear garden, roses climb one wall. A wisteria-draped trellis shades a table and chairs. Young plum, pear, and maple trees flank a small lawn.

Taxes: $1,900 a year

Wapping | £815,000 ($1.03 million)

A two-bedroom, two-bath apartment on the fourth floor of a converted five-story warehouse.

This apartment is in Wapping, a former docks area on the north bank of the River Thames in East London, about a mile walk or three-minute tram ride to the Tower of London. Wapping was redeveloped in the 1980s with residential towers and warehouses reimagined as multifamily housing.

The area also has Fleet Street print shops, a riverside rose garden, eateries with outdoor seating and traditional pubs, including the Captain Kidd, named after the pirate who was executed at nearby Execution Dock in 1701.

The apartment is a five-minute walk to a London Overground station. Wapping is about 20 miles or nearly an hour’s train or car ride to Heathrow Airport.

Size: 1,057 square feet

Price per square foot: $975

Indoors: From the building entrance, a glass elevator provides a view of the communal hallways on the building’s four upper floors, which have less than 10 units each.

The apartment’s front door opens to an entry hall. A coat closet is to the left, and the U-shaped kitchen is to the right. The roughly 20-foot-by-17.5-foot living/dining room has a 10-foot beamed ceiling. Light streams through an arched triple pane window, with views of the cobbled streets below. The wide-plank floor is engineered wood.

The kitchen has cranberry laminate cabinets with stainless steel hardware and gray countertops. An electric cooktop and oven are across from a stainless steel sink and a dishwasher.

Down the hall, a guest bedroom has glass doors opening to a Juliet balcony. A hall bathroom includes a tub and vanity. The en suite primary bedroom has a picture window and glass-front built-in closets. Its bathroom has a double vanity, ceramic tile flooring, and a combination tub and shower.

Outdoor space: The unit’s only outdoor space is the Juliet balcony off the second bedroom. A dedicated parking spot is in the ground-level garage.

Taxes: $2,890 and year and monthly maintenance of $718

Benyon Wharf | £815,000 ($1.03 million)

A three-bedroom, two-bath duplex with large windows and canal views in a gated community.

This three-bedroom duplex is in Benyon Wharf, a gated development adjacent to Kingsland Basin, a canal basin, in the northeast London borough of Hackney. Neighboring De Beauvoir has Rosemary Gardens, with a soccer field, tennis courts, basketball courts and a playground. Next door, the Rosemary Branch Theatre and Bar was originally a Victorian music hall. Broadway Market, less than a mile away, has more than 150 street-food stalls on weekends.

The Haggerston Overground station, less than a five-minute walk away, provides transportation to London, the West End and Canary Wharf. Bus routes along Kingsland Road supply transportation alternatives.

Size: About 950 square feet

Price per square foot: $1,084

Indoors: This modern open-layout apartment is on the ground and first floors of an eight-story tower with four duplex units. The double-height living/dining area has floor-to-ceiling windows. The floors are wood.

The open kitchen has bluish-gray wood cabinets, a white subway tile backsplash, and white quartz countertops extending to a breakfast bar with a wine rack below. There is a gas cooktop, an oven and a stainless steel sink with a high arc faucet. Additional cabinets straddle the kitchen and dining areas, with a rectangular window between a lower sideboard with a wine refrigerator and a narrower upper cupboard with partially open shelves.

A ground-floor bedroom used as a den has built-in cupboards and shelves. A white-tiled bathroom has a tub with a hand-held shower.

The mezzanine hallway separating the two upstairs bedrooms overlooks the living area and the canal. The principal bedroom’s two windows also face the living room. Both bedrooms have built-in storage and share a hall bath with beige ceramic tiled walls, built-in wood shelving, and a broad shower.

Outdoor space: A dedicated underground garage parking space is included.

Taxes: $2,240 a year, plus maintenance of $3,800 and ground rent of $508 a month
